Her inspiration comes from the colors and charms of Charleston. These shingles are 100 to 250 years old and stem from a long standing tradition of painting storm debris in the hurricane ridden area of Charleston, South Carolina. It has long been a tradition to paint on debris after every major storm. The artists who paint on these historical artifacts are known as hurricane artists. The artwork of Jeanie Drucker, Charleston's most famous hurricane artist, is meticulously transferred on to bring out the beauty of each piece. They are then protected with a clear varnish. The only other place you'll find Ms. Drucker's items for sale is at her booth in the downtown Open Air Historic Market at the corner of North Market and Anson. Each Rainbow Row slate varies in size and shape and comes with strong magnets attached to the back.
