History on back reads, "The Adventure Charleston, South Carolina Moored at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site in Charleston, SC, The Adventure is a reproduction 17th Century trading vessel known as a ketch. From this young colony settled in 1670, this vessel would have sailed along the Atlantic coast and the Caribbean carrying products including naval stores (tar, pitch, and turpentine), deerskins and beef. On return trips from the colonies of Virginia and Barbados, the vessel would deliver the trade goods of tobacco, molasses, sugar and rum. The Adventure is 53 feet long and 15 feet wide, it draws 6 feet of water when fully laden to her capacity of 34 tons and would be operated by a crew of eight."
