History on back reads, "Legare/Waring Mansion Charleston, South Carolina Built in the mid 1800's, Charles Town Mansion originally served as an overseer's house for Old Towne Plantation. In the mid-20th Century, this colonial revival structure was enhanced and enlarged by Ferdinanda Legare Waring. An avid gardener and preservationist, she protected the land of south Carolina's original settlement from development by selling the mansion and 663 acres to the South Carolina Tricentennial Commission for the creation of a park honoring the state's early history. Today, the house is managed by the South Carolina State Park Service. It is the part-time residence of the South Carolina governor and is open for scheduled public tours."
